Mayor Baraka and the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation Unveil Details of Transformative Park and Development Project in Downtown Newark

Edison Properties, Lopez & Son, Prudential Center and Award-Winning Architectural Firm Sage & Coombe Share Plans for Revitalized Area

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2 PM,

PRUDENTIAL CENTER, 25 LAFAYETTE STREET, NEWARK

Newark, NJ – January 11, 2017 – Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation, Edison Properties, Lopez & Son and Prudential Center will host a press conference to unveil details of the new retail and public park space in downtown Newark, on Wednesday, January 18 at 2 pm at Prudential Center, 25 Lafayette Street, Newark. Details of project include zoning approval for $85M+  and investment in an existing warehouse along McCarter Highway. 

The area, currently referred to as Triangle Park, will feature public space, as well as a repurposed warehouse along McCarter Highway. The total investment is estimated at $85-100 million. New York City-based architectural firm Sage & Coombe will provide renderings of the public space said to be reminiscent of NYC’s High Line.
