CHERYL McCANTS is a bilingual, award-winning, communication and marketing professional with more than 25 years of integrated strategic development and global crisis communication experience. Throughout her career as both strategist and spokesperson, she has worked in the educational, real estate development, retail, footwear, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, construction, nonprofit and media industries.

Cheryl was the keynote speaker for the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners’ 10th Anniversary Diversity Luncheon. For 19 years, Cheryl was the host and associate producer of Woman of the Week Talk Show. Former spokesperson and media representative for the National Urban League, Nike, Converse and AT&T, Cheryl has also served as a moderator, panelist and judge for several organizations including the New Jersey Small Business Development Center, ISM of New Jersey and the Girl Scouts of the USA. A graduate of The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Cheryl was also an associate producer for MSNBC and a freelancer for UPN9-News.

Additionally, Cheryl spent several years with telecommunications giant AT&T, where she also served as a bilingual marketing and communication strategist. Later she joined Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, OR, where she served as Global Corporate Responsibility Manager and Director of Communications for the Jordan Brand. In these roles, Cheryl developed and implemented international media and brand management strategies, as well as campaigns designed to promote Nike’s corporate responsibility programs in the U.S. and abroad. She successfully launched more than 20 new products within a 12-month period, generating approximately $320 million in revenue.

She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and the Newark Regional Business Partnership. She completed the National Urban Fellows 2012 executive leadership program, America’s Leaders of Change, and was honored by Time Warner and Essence Magazine as a Power Leader in the African-American community.

Cheryl completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University and later received a Master of Science degree from The Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Master of Arts degree in Project Management from George Washington University.

She is an articulate and compelling story-teller who is passionate about business, branding and community building.
